Haven't had either, but there's a consensus that Lock is amazing.

I've had both, and I really like both of them...so go with whatever fits your schedule better.

They're both really nice! but I would go with lock if you can get into her class because she really made class interesting for me! Berti was awesome because he did alot of hands on stuff and was funny, but sometimes he didnt know what he was talking about and he would actually say " I have no idea what you're talking about!".

I had Stover for 1AA3 and overall I thought he was good. He spoke kind of quiet at times but besides that I had no problems with him. He may not be as good as Lock in terms of teaching (she filled in for Stover a few times and I thought she was a bit more clear), but he's a genuinely nice guy and really knows his stuff. Oh, and he loves polymers.

From what I've heard, all of the first year chem profs are good. As a general comment, just go with whatever core fits your schedule best.

I had Lock for both 1A03 and 1AA3. She is pretty amazing at teaching these courses. Has a way of engaging the class. Very friendly to talk to and always willing to help.

pips for sure [1st hand experience].....big berts is pretty good too though....either way you will be fine!

Stover is very good with orgo (his specialty)....but the accent makes it slightly difficult to understand him at points (99% of the time its fine)

Definitely Lock! She's really friendly and always finds a way to make chemistry a bit more interesting I've never had Berti but heard he was pretty good too, though Lock has better reviews. As for Stover it really depends, some people really like him while others don't. His accent is at times difficult to understand and he can get boring. Hope this helps!

There's really not a huge difference between them.
All the chem profs are awesome.
Go with whatever fits your schedule the best.
Personal preference: Berti

I had both and Berti wasn't bad but Lock made lectures actually interesting and she's quite an engaging prof.

As for Stover, I had him for orgo and he's also a good prof, sometimes a bit hard to understand.

You have a choice? I remember last year I tried to get into Lock's class and it was full full full!

Yup, Dr. Lock's class tends to get filled up pretty quickly. If all fails, you could always go to her office hours for one on one explanation. I highly recommend doing this. It really helped me to boost up my mark.
