I love them. ROTK is amazing, fellowship a close second.
you watch them too much and you start finding plotholes/innaccuracies/production errors, but in general-awesome

The extended editions make so much more sense. and yes, ROTK is probably the best of them, but I did love the Helm's Deep scene in 2 towers

so many epic scenes in the 2nd and 3rd, but Fellowship really showed the closeness of the hobbits, and it was exciting to see their maturation thru the movies
and as always, Galdalf is such a BOSS

I think probably Two Towers or ROTK was my favourite, but really, they were all great. I have the extended dvd editions with the behind the scenes, and to be honest the behind the scenes documentaries are almost as interesting as the movies LOL. they did an AMAZING job on production. Weta studio is just fantastic. Some of the stuff they did with the miniatures and the on-location shooting, as well as the hand-made props and armour is just mindblowing. I've never, ever appreciated the scale of filming a movie as much as with LOTR. I'm looking forward to seeing all the production work on the extended hobbit dvd (hoping they release it!) as well. You can already watch all the production videos on Peter Jackson's youtube.

they were all fantastic movies. Don't forget about the books, though!

I'm partial to fellowship for the following reasons:
-"You cannot pass!"
-Boromir's last stand
-Frodo by the river "I wish the ring had never come to me" yada yada yada drifts off by himself, Sam appears, "I'm going alone Sam!" "I know Mr. Frodo! And I'm going with you!"

FOTR > TTT > ROTK for me.
FOTR is an adventure with humble beginnings, which feels more unique then "epic, big battle, medievalish movie". It's my all-time favourite movie.
ROTK is an epic action movie (and a good one too) but I don't think it's as unique as FOTR. The trilogy also came out within a few years of Gladiator, Troy, Kingdom of Heaven, Alexander and King Arthur to name a few.
TTT is pretty much a mix of the two.
As much as I wanted to love it, The Hobbit wasn't on the same level as LOTR.

I think the Hobbit would have been a better stand alone film. Standing against LOTR really raised the expectations and you can never recreate the awesomeness of the trilogy. Personally, I would have sat through a 3 hour, pointless movie just to see the amazing imagery that is Middle Earth

Don't care for the movies as much as the books, the adaptation was good overall, however.

Why didn't they just ask the eagles to fly them into Mordor?

I liked The Hobbit more than any of the LOTR films. Okay, that's it. The end.
