lower estimated osap
Hi. My Osap estimate for this year is $1200.00 less than what I received last year. My parents income is pretty much the same as last year. I need to pay almost $15500.00 for my total tuition fee but I'll be getting $13200.00 for this year. I'm just curious why this year is lower than last year(14400.00) especially because $13200.00 is still lower than what I'm expected to pay. I guess I'll call the school and ask but wanted to know if it's a normal thing that happens to other people also. Thanks!

From what I understand, 13200 is the maximum you're able to get. Every time I did OSAP's estimator (I'm 21, so its all based on my own income) no matter how low I made my income, it never estimated any higher than around 13200.

These things can happen for a variety of reasons, its possible your parents income was a bit higher, or maybe your own. Also, some tuition fees go down a little bit as you enter higher years.

You can call the financial aid office or even to OSAP. They may be able to explain to you why, but I don't think they can get you that extra 1200.

Not many students even get 13200 when they have to pay for residence as well as tuition and books. My estimate was 13200 (lm not on res) but when I actually filled out my application I only got 8900. I would just be happy that you're getting such a high amount because 1200 isn't much to complain about

Yup, not complaining. But I have friends that get more than 14000 so I was curious as to why I am not eligible for that amount. Anyhow thanks!
