You can buy them during welcome week, it's best to get it the first day if you didn't pre-order it that way you're not wasting money

What does the MacPass get me?
1. Swag bag - this includes things like a tshirt for your Faculty and residence/SOCS. If you're in residence you'll want your rez shirt!
|
What else is included in the Swag bag? or what was included in previous years.

Just to reiterate what some others have said, ALL residence events require a MacPass for participation, as do the following campus-wide events involving ALL first year students on campus (if not specified as residence only):
Carnival (Sunday, August 31st)
Residence Block Parties (Monday, September 1st)
Monday Night Social (Monday, September 1st)
Faculty Day (Tuesday, September 2nd)
Faculty Night (Thursday, September 4th)
Charity Casino (Friday, September 5th; unless you want to pay an entrance fee)
Residence Amazing Race (Sunday, September 7th)*
*This is a brand new event that will be available to students on a first come, first serve basis! It will be modelled DIRECTLY off of the hit reality tv show "Amazing Race" and will not only allow you to discover locations on campus, but in Hamilton as well!

That depends on the faculty and the residence, they can change it every year. In previous years you've gotten things like t-shirts, frisbee's, nalgene bottles (although I don't think those will be around anymore), umbrella's, magnets and coupons for places around hamilton. All things that you can use at some point in the year. Our faculty umbrellas came in handy more than once that's for sure.

Hey Allan, I'm 99% sure you choose your shirt sizes when you pick your bag up from the tent. Macpass is not really all geared to first-year students, you do get a wristband that lets you into all sorts of concerts and other activities.

Welcome Week is geared towards newcomers in general as the name implies.
Allan, get to the MacPass tent quickly and you'll have your pick of t-shirt size. They may run out of your size if you don't.

I heard from various sources that people were able to get it to the MacPass events without actually buying the macpass. How were they able to do that and is there going to be tighter security?

People sneaking into events is a problem that we encounter every year. The reps, maroons and faculty reps are all supposed to be watching for people who don't have welcome week passes and kicking them out of events. Of course there are always going to be those who do not get caught. However if you do get caught the reprocussions can be severe with the student code of conduct.
Basically, yes you can sneak in, but it's not worth it if you get caught.

I got to the MacPass tent at noon or 1ish on the first day of Welcome Week (I moved in in the morning) and they were ALREADY out of medium Brandon shirts. I still got a medium science one though...

I guess upper-years are gonna get whatever sizes are left.
Which Faculty normally has the best looking t-shirts? (I remember Science always having good looking ones)

No, upper years are not going to get the best ones. Upper years don't often buy macpasses because they've already done welcome week in their first year.
Upper years won't even be moving in on campus the same days that first year students are. There might be one or two but def. not all the ones that are in residence. If you want the right size of t-shirt get to the MacPass tent promptly.
