Macpass Registration?
Hi guys,
I'm having trouble registering for my macpass.

I followed these instructions from the FAQ page:
Activate your OSCARplus account with your MacID user name and password
Click on Student Login button. Enter your MacID user name and password
Click 'Events' Tab
Click 'Fairs & Special Events'
Fill out the Registration Form provided
You will receive an email confirmation
Print your email confirmation and bring it with you when picking up your MacPass

But when I get to 'Fairs & Special Events' it shows me my Welcome Day 2014 Registration that I already completed and there's no option to register for my macpass or Welcome Week.

Or is it too early to register? I'm using google chrome if that helps.

Thanks in advance.

Hey Lisa

My guess is that it's too early to register. The MacPass website was just recently updated to start showing '2014' so it probably is still in the works.

To be honest, there is no rush. You have all summer to pick up your pass, even during welcome week I believe you can still pick it up. The ones that register early get their choice of t-shirt size but that's about it.

Great to see you're being proactive and getting things done as soon as possible though!

Registration opened up!

But I'm kinda confused with this option they give me...
I have a meal plan already since I'll be living on residence for my first year. So should I opt in for the Food Service provided during Welcome Week and have the cost deducted from my pre-purchased McMaster Meal Plan, or just stick with my Meal Plan?

It says...
Dining Plan:

The Dining Plan is an optional deduction from your McMaster Meal Plan (or payment for Off-Campus Students) and it provides you with pre-arranged meals during the opening weekend of Welcome Week 2014. The goal of the Dining Plan is to engage students with reps and their peers while eating their meals in timeslots which allow for students to attend all Welcome Week programming/activities.

Please ONLY buy into the Dining Plan (either Sat or Sun) if you are interested in being apart of the Food Service provided during Welcome Week opening dates (Sat Aug 30 - Mon Sept 1).

It is a great option for off-campus students because they will not have to bring food or cash because they will have pre-purchased food arranged for the first weekend of Welcome Week, when most of our on campus restaurants are closed. Prepayment is acceptable through credit card or by deducting the cost from your pre-purchased McMaster Meal Plan.

Yeah, it's a good idea. You don't have to, but your residence will have a scheduled time to all go to dinner together and it's a great opportunity to meet some of the people you'll be living with. Since the above says that most of the restaurants will be closed, you might have a hard time finding other food on campus that weekend.

Basically as a res student you have to get a meal plan (see here for our great guide to meal plans) and you select and pay for a meal plan with $xxxx on it for the year..

What McMaster is trying to do is get you to agree to pay for a meal during welcome week where they have a catered meal during a scheduled time during the week for all the students in your res to get together and eat (I believe it's a BBQ lunch/dinner). The fee for that, which I'm surprised they don't say what the price is (which my guess would be the meal is probably on the pricer/expensive side for what you get). But whatever that price is, it will be auto deducted from your meal plan, as if you swiped your meal plan card that day and bought the BBQ meal.

You don't have to buy it, you could just eat somewhere else on campus. But as Bug324 said, it's a nice opportunity to network with others in your res when everyone is in one spot eating a meal together
