"Mac SHARE" launches today
Launching sometime later tonight, a new service of the MSU called "MacShare" will allow you to review housing that you've lived in for other students read about and help them make an informed decision when choosing a house once you've left. A brilliant idea, and an initiative lead by Ryan Moran.
The point of this website is for students to be able to make a more savvy choice about the property they are interested in before they get stuck with one that might be below their expectations. It has happened in the past that properties that may seem like a gem to a student within the first two weeks or so may turnout to be a less than satisfactory living arrangement. The intention of this website is for students to assist each other in finding positive living accommodations, and help to guard each other against those that they may regret. However, if the house you are reviewing is your actual home (parents and all), it’s probably best that you refrain from reviewing it.
The McMaster Student Housing And Rental Evaluation (
Mac SHARE) website will offer the students the ability to review their off-campus living accommodation (whether its an apartment, student-house, room in landlord’s home, etc.) and then “share” that review with their fellow students.
Housing listings for off-campus properties already exist at
Mac, as organized through the Off-Campus Resource Centre. The intention of this website is two-fold. On the one hand, students can express their opinion of their current off-campus living accommodation. And, on the other hand, students who are interested in renting a property can have insight into its quality (as evaluated by a fellow student) before signing any lease. In other words, after finding a property that may pique your interest on the housing listings, find out what a fellow student may have thought about their experience there by checking
Mac SHARE.
Look for the launch tonight!
