MSS Hamilton invites you to a peer support discussion on Life Transitions
When? Thursday, February 28th from 5-7pm
Where? McMaster University. Email
[email protected] ciety.com for location details.
Who? Students (from any college, university, or adult education course/program) or people planning to return to school who have personal experiences with psychiatric systems, madness, mental illness, mental health disabilities, etc.
Are you currently experiencing, anticipating, or planning a life transition
-from high school to post-secondary?
-from a leave of absence to a school schedule or a school schedule to a leave of absence?
-from work to school or school to work or from one job to another?
-from an undergrad to graduate program or to life after graduation?
-from one geographical area or home to a new place?
-from one identity/sense of self to something different – perhaps related to gender, sexuality, or religion/faith?
-from “normal” to someone experiencing disability and/or labelled with a mental health diagnosis?
-from a period of wellness/remission/less craziness to a time of intensified distress or from an episode to a stretch of calm?
Maybe you’re moving into or out of a relationship with a service provider? Or experiencing transitions in relation to friends, intimate partners, parents, children, or other family? Perhaps you’re rethinking your commitments, priorities, habits, activities, roles, values, or goals? On February 28th, join your peers to talk about how we navigate significant changes in our lives. We welcome new members, frequent faces, and folks we haven’t seen in a while.

Mad Students Society (MSS), created in 2005, is a community of students who are attending or planning to attend post-secondary or adult education institutions and have personal past/present experiences with psychiatric/mental health systems. We meet monthly (in downtown Toronto, North York, and Hamilton) and communicate through an email listserv to support each other, discover tools for self-advocacy, and connect with our history and broader social movements.
