Also, do i have to keep a certain average for first term in order to continue with second term? reall confused i just need someone to explain this whole GPA thing to me and stuff.. when they said university is different from highschool, they weren't lying.. i'm just stressed out about everything and i need some insight since i have no idea of what to do with my life anymore.. also, im on osap, so do i need a certain average for that as well? thanks hope to get some help.

if you dont get more then a 3.0, you have to apply for reinstatement explaining why you had such poor academic performance. Generally most second year programs require a 6.0, so try aiming for a 7.0 and don't get down on yourself.

Is it that time of year again?

Go talk to your academic counsellor.

He meant in order to get into most majors(eg: Econ or Psych) officially you need a 6.0 Average. You need 3.0 or 4.0 to STAY at McMaster; however with that low an average you'll enter second year as Level II Social Sciences and not officially as part of a program/major.
The GPA system is out of 12.
A 6.0 is a C+ and not 60%
A B- is a 7 and so on you can figure out the rest!

If you received an entrance scholarship, you need a 9.5 to keep it. Not sure about OSAP (for the loan / grants), and I think you need a 9.5 for QEII as well.

Also, check specifically with the department you are interested in majoring in next year (if you have an interest yet) because I know when I was going into 2nd year you could get into a lot of 3 Year BA programs with a 3.5 but for the Honours 4 year programs you needed 6.0.

And if you want to you can always change from the 3 year program to the 4 Year program later on if you get your marks up to a 6.0 in 2nd or even 3rd year.

You don't get to keep your entrance scholarship no matter what grades you get this year.

Yep, this year i got the Senate scholarship, the Shenstone prize and two Biology Academic Achievement awards.
In course ones are great because there is no need to apply to most of them
