Are the people living in the same suite gonna be in the same year too?

Usually, yes. They try and keep first year students together. Although sometimes there may be one first year student with a bunch of upper year students.

It's not far from the student centre... well maybe if you're comparing it to the distance between Edwards and the student centre . But to walk from the door of Keyes to the student centre will take you roughly 5 minutes.

I would say a little closer to ten minutes, but it won't take you half an hour or anything.

And in reply to an earlier post of mine: there are washing machines and dryers on the second floor of keyes.

Well maybe closer to 10... but not if you're a brisk walker like me

Yep, they're the same thing. I always wondered why they never seemed to make the common name of that building and its abbreviation consistent, but oh well.

Do we get cable tv for free, and if so is it basic?
Also, anyone know if there are any dollar stores nearby like a dollarama?

There is a dollarama in University Plaza. If you take main street and keep going west you'll be there in a few minutes. You'll pass a Crabby Joes on your left-hand side, a weird turning thing, and a hill before the intersection.

There is also one in Jackson Square

My name is Ben and I'm looking at the Mary Keyes Residence for next year, but have a couple questions. It'll be my first year, so does anyone know what the probability of me getting in is? Also, I have a pretty musical life, I play guitar in all my spare time, what is the 'music room' in the basement? Thanks in advance!

Mary Keyes has around 125-150 spots for first year students; the rest of the rooms are all for upper years. That being said, just going by odds you will have a smaller chance of getting into the building.

It also depends on what number you get in the lottery; the lower your number, the more likely you will be afforded your first choice, which in this instance will be Keyes.

As for the music room in the basement, I can't be entirely positive as I have never been there. However, it seems that most of the residences have a room (usually in the basement) that has a piano in it; thus the music room.
