I haven't heard of them either, they're likely a sessional lecturer hired just for the summer. This means they could be amazing or terrible.

I'd take it regardless of the prof. The material is pretty straight-forward, and you can easily teach it to yourself.

I don't think Shen is a usual lecturer, so, as Mowicz said, he'll either be awful or amazing.

Don't wait until next year - usually I would suggest doing so, but 1AA3 isn't a particularly 'deep' course. There's nothing mathematically profound for you to grasp, just methods. You may as well get it over with in the summer. If you're not interested in math, chances are it'll also be more difficult during the year.

Nah, I think you shouldn't put off taking the course just because of the prof. If anything you could just go to the math help centre everyday and learn the course from TA's.

In other words: Mowicz wants a job next summer, so keep up the demand.

Having taken it this past semester, but also being someone who isn't particularly good at Math like Mowicz/Mahratta, I can say if you don't understand something due to the professor not lecturing very well, just go through the textbook for the corresponding sections, do the assigned homework, and assuming he doesn't make the tests very difficult it's quite possible to finish the course with a high 90s mark.

and only reason im skeptical of taking it in summer is cause im already taking orgo chem which is a heavy workload on its own. and usually during the year they have web assign which helps bring your mark up a bit but this summer its just the midterm so if its hard then im screweeddd

Math 1AA3 is much, much lighter than Chem 1A03 and 1AA3 were, imo, so you'll probably be fine. Just attend all the tutorials and lectures, and try to do the questions and demos as the lecturers and TAs do them after reading the textbook in advance. With enough "Math-sense" (which you probably have, since you already did 1A03 just fine), you'll get 10 if you do what I said, and even higher if you put in more effort.

In fact, (I'm not sure if it's just me, but) I found 1AA3 easier than 1A03. I got one grade point higher with the same professor (Dr. Libor Barto) for both of them, as well as equally satisfactory (imo) TAs.

The exams for Maths 1AA3 are very easy. The final especially. And by easy I mean, if you've done a couple practice problems on your own and understand what you're doing, you should be good. The questions are never tricky or hard, just straightforward solve-it problems.

I, however, found A03 a lot easier...maybe because I'd done 75% in HS already...LOL.

About Shen being a sessional lecturer - I don't think so. S/he's teaching a course next year, too...I think it was Maths 1B03? S/he's listed under the instructors.
