MAth 1K03 and MAth 1M03
I am Absolutely TERRIBLE at math, however In high school I never did homework, ask for help or study for tests so I suppose that contributed. I have to take the two math listed in the title, and I was wondering how difficult they are? Or if anyone here has taken these course can put any input? these are the only course I am really worried for. I have also been told to take 1ls3 and 1f03 because they are easier? So confused.

Hey there I feel like math is the type of subject that, if you're not naturally good at it, you get help, do the homework and attend class and will receive decent if not good marks. I had to take 1M03 for first year commerce, and it was pretty easy. What's good about the fact that you have to take 1K03 and then 1M03 is that you take 1K03 in first term then 1M03 in second term, that way there's no gap in between during which you may forget anything. That definitely helps, and once you go into 1M03 you're already in "math mode". That being said, I had Dr. McLean for 1M03 and thought he was great; the other profs weren't much to listen to and other students actually came to McLean's classes to listen to his lectures. In terms of the course material, everything was pretty easy, but it's not like you could see it on an exam for the first time and just understand it. I learned a lot during lectures and did the homework three or so nights before midterms and went for help if I needed it and I ended up well. My advice would be to take good notes, attend tutorials if you're struggling with a particular topic and seek help if you need it (Oh, and the practice questions; because after doing them THEN answers seem obvious). Math isn't hard; I think it's the mindset people go in with that prevents them from using all the available resources to achieve their best mark.

Good luck!
