Math 1LS3 conflicts
I put math 1LS3 in 1st term and I had conflicts with other courses with the timing, they were the same and I was think of moving biology into the 1st term but it's full and moving math 1LS3 into the second. I can't even switch to math 1A03 into the first term because it's full. How do resolve this conflict? I'm panicking that I didn't realize earlier and now I feel like crying.

The only thing you can do is wait and try to get into the course through July and August. As we get closer to September, maybe you can email the undergrad advisors and ask them if you can switch the two courses since they're required for you. Until then though, I'm pretty sure all they'll tell you is to just keep checking SOLAR.

There are three cores for 1LS3 first term...and likely multiple cores for the other courses you're taking, too. Are you sure all of them conflict?

With what?
I've never heard of this happening before, which is why I'm questioning...in first year, it's usually not a problem unless you are taking a few random electives, or courses across multiple faculties, since there are multiple cores for most required courses.

It shouldn't conflict, especially since a lot of people will be taking the same Life Sci I courses. Does it conflict with an elective or a required course? Also, do you have a mock timetable? If so, can you post it so we can get a better idea of how to work around the conflict?

I think you are in MedRadSci, I had the same problem. Only choice is to take Math 1LS3 in Term 2 (Unless you want to take Math 1A03). All the cores conflict with either Kin 1Y03 or MedRadSc 1A03.

This is what I did:

Term 1:
• Biology 1A03
• Kin 1Y03
• MedRadSc 1A03
• Econ 1B03 (Evening 7pm-10pm, once a week)
• Econ 1BB3

Term 2:
• Math 1LS3
• Kin 1YY3
• MedRadSc 1B03
• MedRadSc 1C03
• MedRadSc 1D03

There's something a bit sketchy about Kin 1Y03...in the past, it's always been held in the same room as Kin 1A03 at the same time, taught by the same profs. The course code has only been used to differentiate kin from non-kin students, to ensure that there is room for all kin students to register in the course, while limiting the number of non-kin students. This year though, the master timetable says they're at separate times. The registrar did mess this up for another course with a similar setup, and then they were notified of the error by the department and it got changed. I'd recommend emailing the kin department to make sure the two classes are actually being separated, and it's not an error on the registrar's part. This may solve the conflict problem, or it might not...but it might be worth double-checking anyways.

I found a way to resolve the conflict, I moved math 1LS3 into the second term so now i have 6 courses in the second term and five courses in the first term.

Term 1:
Physics 1L03
Psych 1X03
Kinesiol 1Y03
Medradsc 1A03

Term 2:
Math 1LS3
Biology 1A03
Medradsc 1B03
Medradsc 1C03
Medradsc 1D03
Kinesiol 1YY3

I don't have to have five courses in each term, right? How does this schedule look?

Your Term 2 is overloaded so how about Bio 1A03 in Term 1?

I would but right now biology 1A03 in the 1st term is full. Is there any chance that there will be some spots avaible throughtout the summer?

Keep checking back and you will probably get it, if not just e-mail the advisor, they can get you into it since you have to take that course as part of your program.

The undergraduate advisor? I don't have her email. Is there a specific time I should email her by? I can change my courses when SOLAR reopens, right?

You can only take 10 courses (i.e. 30 units) in first year. You can't overload as a first-yer student.

Your best bet is to keep checking, you have July, August and even the first 2 weeks or so of September- so you still have plenty of time. If you email the undergrad advisor, she'll tell you the same thing: to keep checking SOLAR. So it's best to email her later on in August or so, closer to the start of school. And yes, you can change your courses when SOLAR re-opens on July 11th.

@Sara: Kanvi didn't overload in general though. She just took 4 in the first semester, while 6 in the second semester.

@Kanvi: I think you should keep trying to log into solar every day to put Math 1LS3 in the first semester. It's best to have 5:5 in each term.
