Math 1LS3 MC?!
I heard that the tests for the Fall 2011 were different from the tests in the course-pack in the sense that there were some unexpected MC questions whereas in the sample tests, all of them were short answer type questions. Were they concept based or just simple calculation questions?

Hi there. Just took the math 1ls3 course last term and there were MC questions in the test. There were usually 2 MC questions, each worth 3 marks. You are not required to show your work and unfortunately if you do get the question wrong, you will not get part marks regardless if you did show your work. Concepts and calculations are both included in the MC questions. Hope this helps!

So 2 MC worth 3 marks each meaning that it's worth a total of 6 marks. Do you know how the total number of marks a test is usually worth out of? Is this a large percentage? Did you find out if you had enough time for all of the questions during the test? Thanks

The tests are out of 40 and are all very straightforward, the multiple choice is very basic stuff.

Really? I took a look and there were 60-65% midterms which boggles my mind; even 1A03 had higher avg's

Do not take this course lightly. I studied hard and got a 12. But there are many that walked in with the attitude that this is a bird course and they ended up with 11, 10 or less. Treat this course like you would any other. Study, work hard, practise and you'll get a 12.

As for the MCs, be careful they try to trick you. I got all of them right but I read the question very carefully and eliminated my options one by one.

Be careful about time. I found that there was too little time for almost every test. The exam was the opposite, there was lots of time for that.

And take a look at last semester's Math 1X03. Last semester, Math 1X03's quiz was Math 1LS3's test
