yep that sounds about right. If you get a 90-100% on a course you would get a 12, the grade system is outlined in the undergrad calendar somewhere i think.

That's kind of unfair in my opinion; someone could be getting 90.1 and another getting 98, yet they both still get the 12. o_O It's like pulling up lower marks and dragging down higher marks. It has its good sides, but also bad ones too. =[

Shhh! Don't ruin the fun; it means you can slack off a little bit and still look good
I'm happy with this change; I personally only do all the assigned material for Math/Chemistry and even doing all the math (and rest assured, I had no problems with the homework either) I could only get 60's on this test. The additional 12-15% would be a god send and would take a load of stress on my back!
Thanks for the heads up guys!

I'm on the same boat, they will do this change only if people did bad on the exam. Bump a test mark for example. I'm pretty sure this will happen to physics marks as well, if it stayed that way. This sounds funny but if you fail and others did too, you get your marks bumped. If you fail, you better hope others fail too because you get the benefits

I'm thinking the problem with math is that it seems to be the only class where the tests are designed to take advantage of you screwing up when calculating. Whoever writes them determines where people are likely to mess up, and throws those into the answers. There are also way too few questions, and no part marks. So every screw up is worth a significant portion of the test mark.
Chem test are the only ones I really like so far...

I think Physics is the class most desperately needing a boost. From what I heard, some classes had an average less than 50% on the last test.
I got a low 70, and could have done much better if I hadn't messed up a few multiple choice questions :p. Those are worth too much...

Yep that's usually how multiple choice test works unfortunately. I'm pretty sure Childs writes them, so if he's sneaky he'll know what common errors students do and put them on there. I do agree with the chem tests being fair and I like the part marks . Be happy you don't have a midterm that's only worth out of 10, like what I had....good luck on ur math test!!
