McMaster to London?
I'm desperately trying to find a ride to London, or to Sarnia if possible this Friday. There's a lot going on with my family right now and I'd really like to be with them but can't afford the bus fair.

Is anyone driving to London or Sarnia on Friday? I can be ready to leave as early as 11:30am!

Please!!

Bus fare if you go Greyhound is $19, not really expensive. If you were splitting gas with someone you'd be paying ~$10, so if you can't find anyone to hitch a ride with, an extra $9 isn't too bad.

Ask to borrow some money from a (good) friend, and pay them back..if it's an urgent matter and you cannot afford the trip on your own right now.

Is a 1-way trip a possibility? and then have a family member drive you back when it is possible?

Also not possible. I will be taking the bus back one way, but cannot afford the full round trip. Thank you though.

They'd just be offsetting the cost onto their family member... either way, that price isn't too crazy; thought it'd be more...

Well i say this in the assumption that at least one of her family members would be able to handle the burden of a 20 dollar bus ride...

You would think that $20 wouldn't be a big deal, but my Dad just lost his job of 20 years so it's not like I'm asking because I'm cheap, I'm asking because this is genuinely something I cannot do on my own.
Thanks.

I'd recommend getting a job then...my dad lost his job, but it didn't affect me much because I have been working for years and earning a good deal of money on my own.

In the meantime, you may want to look into this: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /calen...-13/pg200.html

Very few people seem to even know that these avenues exist. If you and your entire family combined legitimately can't spare $20, then you probably qualify...though there's a difference between literally not being able to afford it (ie not having $20 to your name) and being very tight on money and choosing to spend it on other things (rent, food, etc).

I've never had any personal experience with those funds/loans nor do I know anyone who has, so I can't give you any more detail than what you could find yourself on google...going to speak to someone from SFAS is probably your best bet.

Excuse me, when did this become a thread about how poor the threadstarter apparently is, lol... They were just asking for advice to get to London and back... I don't know any Londoners myself, but I'm sure somebody here could carpool with you, try posting on umentioned or some random mac group, tee hee.

emilyvic77 says thanks to RyanC for this post.

No kidding, as if I don't already know that I need a job. I've been working under the table since I was 12 and am no stranger to working for my livings thanks. And I have a summer job lined up.

I think that I've found a way to London finally. Thank you guys for all your help though.

Really? It wasn't too bad for me when I went on the Greyhound around November.
