McMaster MD Admissions E-mail Error

Some McMaster applicants were surprised to find an email in their inbox informing them of their acceptance status to the McMaster MD program. This e-mail was generated by mistake.

A McMaster official e-mail went out apologizing for the mistake.

wow, my condolences to those who had to endure that. That MUST be very tough. I hope everyone is alright and hopefully, this issue is addressed ASAP. As a med school applicant myself, this is probably one of the worst things it could happen, getting an offer and then lose it....

What if people rejected their offers to accept their "Mcmaster" offer? I recall something like this happening for university acceptances, and people rejected their other offers, only to find out it was a mistake. Not sure what happened though.

Damn, can't imagine how bad it was for people who received the email and probably told everyone and posted it on facebook to show their excitement, only to find out it was a mistake.

That's very sad to hear :/, clearly this should serve as just one of the many wake up calls to McMaster to redo their online systems.

I don't think anyone was accepted and then actually rejected. AFAIK all of the mistake emails were waitlist notifications and some people who were previously accepted were then told they were waitlisted. But this was then recanted by the above email since all those acceptances were in the morning and those were the true emails. Still prettyyy bad. A bunch of the other med schools also messed up in other fun ways.
