I think now, this is how they set up the system:
85% to 89.99% = $1000 in 1st year of university.
If your C.A. is 9.5 or over, you maintain the scholarship.
However, if you get a 12.0 C.A., they aren't going to give you $3000.
It's just scholarship retention; they simply don't explicitly state that anymore.
I suppose, back in the day, or I should say, back in Greg's day (cause he's one year older than Jeremy which was the year they made the change), if somebody's grade dropped below a certain limit (be it 9.5 across all scholarships or the lowest average acceptable for them to maintain their scholarship), they simply may not be able to renew it.
When I got accepted into UOIT, they offered me 6 grand over 4 years but only if I maintained my marks.
I find it really unfair though that a 100% student can drop to a 9.5 and they maintain their 3 grand, whereas a 82% could get an 11.0 C.A. and they won't receive an increased scholarship. (<- That's what I garnered from the Business I Academic Advising session)

Yeah, I wish the system actually worked like that, but c'est la vie.

I wish we could protest and petition againstg these things.
I'd really like to petition against SOLAR, not just for the hell of it, but because I think at nearly $7000+ a year, we should be able to see how many people are in a course and how many spots there are so that we can make other plans if our first choices are full.

I know :( Kinda sad. but I guess it's a reward for those who did well in High school and a "punishment" in some way to those who slacked off
Not fair.. but like Greg said.. C'est la vie!

The only redeeming factor is that if you do really well in University (11.0, 12.0 GPA whatever), you can qualify for a lot of other academic scholarships which are worth a fair bit.

Oh and to be able to be told the exact prerequisite we lack to take a course instead of "Failed Requisites", so that we don't waste 10 minutes trying to find out which one it is.
I understand certain people might say, "well if you're not prepared, then the seat should go toward someone else", but few university students have planned that intensely in advance to be sure they aren't even making one mistake.
That being said, to anybody who's made a mock timetable, I urge you to check them over and over and to get another pair of eyes checking it too.

Oh yeah! Forgot about that . Thanks Greg! I looked up some of them and most don't require applications.. But that's really weird, since more than one person can actually qualify.. :S

No kidding. A lot of scholarships these days ask for modern day saints. Students who are amazing leaders and have done 32492348 hours of volunteering. Hell, I'm just trying to get good grades and money, I don't have much time to be the next Craig Kielburger.

Yes that is correct. Chances are they are still reviewing your grades from highschool. So first years will get their scholarships later.

It'll definitively be there at the beginning of August. It might show up on the last week of July though. Mine was given on the 23rd last year.

I hope so! It would be nice to see the amount in the PA go down a little bit
