Med Rad to Med School
Hi everyone!
I'm considering med rad at Mac. I'm not entirely sure what I want to be doing in the future, but I do know for sure that I want to be in healthcare. I have had a lifelong dream of being a doctor, but am aware of how competitive and difficult it is to become one. As a result, I was planning on doing my four years of medrad and then, if I feel up to it, writing my MCATs or even applying to some physician assistant programs.
What do you think? Is this possible? And if so, how do I make up the needed courses? I understand that medrad's schedule is already pretty tight.
I understand that this may be a more difficult route than taking, for instance, Life Sciences, but I'm really concerned about not finding a secure job after Life Sci... it's just a very general program and I'm not sure where it leads you.
Thank you so much for your help! This is my first time using this site so if I've made any mistakes please let me know!

Med rad will give you a job most likely by the end of it. You will be trained in a specific field of medical radiation sciences. You won't have much if any elective space, so your summers will be busy. I can see that you're worried about securing a job, but you seem to have higher ambitions than just ending undergrad and starting to work. There's nothing wrong with going into life sci, it opens many doors and can allow you pursue almost any field after you graduate depending on how you set yourself up. The program is undergoing some radical changes in the next year which I think will be very positive.
