med school personal statement help??
Hey everybody,

Does anyone where one can get some sort of professional advice on their personal statements for med school? I 've been to the centre for student development but they don't know what med schools look for in a PS so were just able to check the writing. Is there anyone at MAC who would be able to guide me on that?

Thanks!

I have not personally written a personal statement for Med school yet but from what I gather (at least for UofT), you should show through your experience how medicine is a good fit for you and how you prepared for it, why medicine?

All these might sound generic but you have to find an angle and make it your personal statement. Since most essays will say the same thing so you need to ask yourself "Am I the only who could have written this essay?". Hope that helps and good luck with the app.

BSB room 127!
It's the Science Career Services office and they offer help with graduate school applications, job applications, etc. They even do mock med school interviews and can critique your application for you. Really helpful. Drop by and check 'em out.

Definitely! We sat through a presentation today, and they're your best bet for anything you want with regards to med school. Their website is www.science.mcmaster. ca/scce which you can use to book an appointment and such. There's also a ton of workshops you can sign up for on OSCAR!

They're pretty much booked until mid-Oct though.

A lot of slots on the website are still open, this week and next week. It'll definitely fill up fast though.

Strange, schedule 1 & 2 are all coming up as "booked".

Edit: When I went in to talk with them, the earliest appointment available is Oct 7th which is past the OSMAS deadline, but if you're applying to OOP schools you may be okay.
