Well, it's all in perspective. Based on the lack of doctors in Canada, and the surplus of doctors in the U.S., I'd conclude that not many people feel the same type of compassion you do, and instead just want a nice paycheck at the end of the day. I'm not saying they don't care about their patients, but I think they just value the financial aspects of the job a bit higher.

Agreed. Also, why does our nation accept immigrants who are qualified doctors/other professionals and then prevent them from practicing their profession? |

Well that one too...but I was commenting on the ethics question posed by jhan. What would you do if someone was in dire need of medical care but it was against the law to treat him?

Yeah, there is that entire thing about patients suing doctors. You have to be very careful. I'm pretty sure you have to take a course on patient care and regulations and what not.
That is the hardest thing to face though, when the patient denies care/treatment. I mean, it's their choice but you feel horrible because you know you can treat them but you can't do anything otherwise you might get sued and lose your license.

You'll get into Canada, no worries. Here's the stats from the medical school admissions requirements guide for 2008-2009. This is freely available on Washington University's website, so I'm not infringing on any copyrights. I say this, cause the MSAR is not online and only available for purchase...so I'm not sure why this stat sheet is posted on their website.

Unfortunately, due to the extremely high ratio of qualified applicants to number of medical schools in Canada, it's much harder than most of the US scores.
I got a handy booklet from a med event at Mac last year that had all the scores but I lost it...You might want to look into finding out if they still have it this year.
Each school is different, and some post scores on their websites. Toronto's average acceptance last year was a 33Qmcat and 3.89, which is pretty much equivalent to harvard :(
They each look for something different. Ottawa and mac don't need the mcat, but they need high gpas and extremely crazy extra curriculars.
