Meeting Freinds in their Res.
Just out of curiosity, if you wanted to meet up with freinds who are living in different residences, can you go at whatever time and whenever as long as you are with them?

Since only they have the keys to that specific res, what are some rules and regulations that we should know.

If i wanted to go to a party at another res, would i get my freinds to let me in or do i have to check in at the main desk or whatever??

Your friend has to sign you in if its after a certain time at night. You're also allowed having overnight guests for a maximum of three days. However, if you're going to party at a different residence make sure that you aren't noticeably intoxicated otherwise they may refuse your entrance in the building. The reason they don't let anyone wander in any building is to ensure the safety of the students and to maintain some order & cleanliness.

Do you mean a total of three days throughout the whole year or three consecutive days?

Consecutive, and then there's a waiting period (7 days) before you can do it again. But, you MUST have the permission of your roommate before you can have overnight guests, especially if you plan to do it on a regular basis. Not everyone is comfortable with that, and if they're not, then you either have to come to some sort of compromise or simply respect thier views.

You can find the actual Guest/Escort policy right here: http://housing.mcmaster.ca/Residence...ts/Guest-1.pdf

Oh, and as Nicole mentioned, on Thursday/Friday/Saturday nights, most residences have staff on duty in the lobby to sign in guests, and each resident is allowed a maximum of two. Outside of these times, they do not have to be signed in.

Ok that makes sense, so if its during the day all you have to do is just go into their res with them and your set?

Or do they have to sign you in everytime you go to their res regardless of what time of day it is.

Yep, during the day you can just walk in with them (they have to let you in because the exterior doors are locked, though, and following someone else in and moving around unescorted is a no-no). Only on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday nights (after around 9 pm, usually) do you have to sign in.
