Hello there fellow McMaster students
Would you be interested in volunteering with the International Student Services office? We are currently looking for students to be mentors to incoming international/exchange students for the 2012/2013 academic session. If you have any questions - please leave a post and I'll answer it asap! Or email
[email protected] a. If you are interested, please follow the link at the bottom of this post and fill out the form to register. Training sessions will be taking place later on in March, and you will emailed the dates at a later time.
Basically for whoever is interested - you will serve as a mentor to an international/exchange student. You will be given their email address(es), and you can contact them while they are still in their home country. This is to answer any questions they may have before arriving in Canada - where to eat on campus, where to shop, etc. You are their go to person for every-day life. Talk to them about how McMaster works, what courses to take, show them around campus, etc. The time commitment is whatever you make it or whatever your mentee needs. During the year there will be several free events (with food of course), where you can meet up with your mentee and just hang out. We will try our best to pair you with a student who is in your program or has similar interests to you. And to thank you for all of this, you will be given a reference letter
