Ive been ponder this question, how much do you think an undergrad degree costs, with every expense included tuition, books, rooming, transportation, entertainment, food etc etc.

Im assuming this from a student who lives in a student house, obviously there is a difference if you commute within Hamilton vs if you drive/bus into Hamilton vs a student from BC, who has to fly home 2-3 times per year.

Ive ball parked it at around $50,000, but I’m curious to what other people think.

Also, as an aside, how much debt will your graduate with?

Yeah around $50,000 , but I think I'll be debt free when I graduate though because I'm in co-op and I have part time job during school year.

I think $50,000 is about right, if not a little low.

Rent (400/month) x 4 years = 19,200
Tuition (6000/year) x 4 years = 24,000
Books (500/year) x 4 years = 2,000
Food (200/month) x 4 years = 9,600

Unless my math is wrong (which it could be), that's 54,800.

That's not even including entertainment, clothes, school supplies, transportation, and that's a pretty low figure for groceries. There are tons of other factors depending on each person too - flying home for holidays, paying for pet medical bills, taking care of children, etc. Some people may be able to get by without debt by working during the summer and during the school year, but for others it's just not possible (ie. they might have to take care of family members during their time off school)

50,000 dollars isn't bad. If you do a year of co-op, you can pay off a good chunk of it straight from that alone.

It's an amazing deal when you consider how much university costs a year down south of us.
