Music coming from Divinity College Tower?
I've been meaning to post this for a while. I think it happened at the beginning of last month, but I cannot remember for sure. I heard some sort of instrumental music coming from the Divinity College as I walked across BSB field. It was quite loud (could probably be heard by most buildings on campus), and it definitely didn't sound like it wasn't coming from any sort of speakers (nor did I see any speakers). As I walked by the Divinity College I noticed that the organ-like music sounded like it was coming from the tower of the building.

Does anyone know where this music was coming from and why? I'm really curious - whomever was playing it, it sounded really nice actually. Was anyone else on campus when this happened?

They're called Carillon bells, they're in McMaster's Divinity College.

If I'm not mistaken, they play them every Wednesday at around noon.

Wow, that would be crazy if I lived on campus for a year and never noticed them once, if that were the case.

"The bells will ring at 1:15pm for three to five minutes each Wednesday during the academic year to signify that chapel will be beginning soon - at 1:30pm."

3-5 minutes is a really short amount of time though so that could explain why you've missed them

It was such a nice sound. I wish it was played for longer each day.

I'm a student at the Divinity College. The carillon is played to announce chapel; however, this year our chapel services are on Mondays at 2 p.m. All are welcome.
