What Are My Chances Of Getting In???
Second Year combined cmst/mmedia i mean.
i did commerce first year, but found it quite boring and am therefore switching to second year cmst/mmedia.
my average will probably be around an 8 (prob a lil less, but still over 7 most likely).
i already took cmst and am taking both first year mmedia courses in the summer
i am really interested in the media side of things so thats why im asking if you guys think ill get in for second year even though i havent done the courses yet.
i know media is a limited program and it says even getting the minimum (of a 6.0) may not be enough to get in, and its based on first year academic achievement.
Also, will my summer school courses count towards my first year GPA at all?

THANKS TO WHOEVER HELPS!!!!

I'm in the program and I honestly wish I could tell you more about the selection process and what your chances are.

All they told us in first year was that its a small program and getting in depends on your grades but also varies based on the amount of people per year who apply.

I think I do recall a discussion about getting in after Summer school though. I may but wrong but I think you will only get in after completing the courses in Summer school if there are spaces left over. So if a lot of people apply and all the spaces get filled prior to Summer school you wouldn't get in. Again though I'm not 100% sure if this is true but since its limited enrollment I can see it being that way.

All I can say is you need to do well in your Multimedia courses in summer school b/c besides the the overall average your grade in the required Multimedia courses is important. I would imagine they make decisions based on course performances, especially if it comes down to similar averages. If two people both had an 8 average but one had 9s in Multimedia and one had 7s obviously the candidate with the better chance would be the one with better performance in the actual Multimedia courses.

You might be able to contact someone at the department and ask them about numbers. I don't know if they can/do speak about the history of program enrollment, how applications have been going in the past years but they might. Most importantly you can ask about Summer school, I imagine they would have information about chances of being accepted after taking the courses in Summer school.
