Off campus and osap
If I decide to live off campus instead of residence, will osap reduce my funds because I am no longer living on residence? Or will the funds stay the same?

OSAP factors in living expenses as well as tuition. However, you should let them know of the change, because residence is more expensive. However, this may not necessarily reduce your OSAP. They will find out eventually though, so it's better if you mention it instead of risking not getting OSAP because of failure to let them know of the change.

I'm probably gonna answer my own question but I just wanted to make sure.

If OSAP factors in living expenses, tuition, etc. Wouldn't my OSAP just stay the same, because on the application it never asked wether or not I will be living on campus or off.

That's true, but they do a calculation of tuition and verify your tuition with McMaster, so I'm not entirely sure if that calculation factors in residence fees or not. That's why I suggest to ask. Better to be safe than sorry.

Do you think I should call OSAP itself or the financial aid office of Mac?

You always deal with OSAP through your own university. I don't even think there's any contact info through the ministry. Contact the Student Financial Aid and Scholarships office at Mac

There's a whole bunch of factors, your income, your parent's income, your tuition, if a sibling is also attending university, etc. So it's best to always let them know!

Tell OSAP everything. Go to Student Financial Aid Services in Gilmour Hall and explain your questions. Likely OSAP will give you a similar amount. If OSAP funds were adequate for your on campus living, I don't think that OSAP could leave you in a position where you couldn't pay to live off campus. The counselors at the office would know more about the exact changes in funds I think.
