Optometry
For optometry at Waterloo it says I need to take 2 terms of physics. Does anyone know if they accept Physics 1L03? If they do, could I take it even though Ive already taken 1B03? It doesnt say it is an antirequisite.

Best to PM Jeremy Han, I believe he is going into optometry and seems to have all the prereqs sorted out. Best of luck!

He'll probably see this and reply.
I don't think they accept Physics - I think it needs a lab component. Similar situation to med, especially since op probably need more physics to start with.

That is correct. You need physics with a lab component and I believe 1L03 only has a tutorial. So you would need to take 1B03 and 1BB3/1BA3.

I'm pretty sure you can take 1L03 even if you've taken 1B03. There was a 3rd-year student in my 1L03 tutorial who had taken numerous physics courses beforehand.

Yeah, there are no antirequisites to 1L03.
Also a correction to my last post, there aren't any tutorials either.

Which physics did you take 1BA3 or 1BB3? How did you find it? I really dont know if I should risk taking another physics because I didnt do too well in 1B03.

I took BB, I think it's more sciency than BA. I'm currently busy (course selection) but try to find the course outline for BB. Look at what topics are covered because I don't think they are the same as B0

Oh well it doesnt matter cause they dont accept that course. Im still undecided as to whether I should take 1BB3 or not. Its not so much as the topics covered as it is just being physics. I dont know if I can make like a 2-3 grade point jump, seem very unlikely.

Well, I can tell you that almost all optometry schools require a full year of physics with lab. Waterloo requires a high GPA, but the states not so much. Last year the average was 3.3. So you theoretically only need around that. (On a 4.0scale by the way). But you should note that you probably won't get in with a 3 year university career. They don't accept many of those.

Negative. How can you say one is more 'sciency'? They're both physics courses and cover similar material. If you are strong in calculus, I would recommend BA3 as it is more calculus based than BB3. The labs and lab reports are the same. BB3 is supposed to have more life science related material.

BB is for the life-science stream - biology-ish stuff.
BA is what the chem and phys majors take.
So, maybe pick based on that, since it will be more relevant to you if you pick one that actually has to do with your degree.
