I managed to finish and submit my application just now. I completed it on IE. For those of you that were experiencing difficulties, you may get through now.
Well, I can't log in because of weird changes with the password and challenge questions and whatnot. And the fact that you can't use your SIN to log in anymore. I'm gonna go up to the Mac financial aid office at some point, or call.
I'm guessing that it's working now for most people, since the complaining via this thread has died down . Or that people are busy and/or have stopped trying for now.
I can do the actual application fine, but I can't do anything with the QEII scholarship...every time i try to click on it, it tells me my session has timed out and I have to log in again. And then it times out, every time I try. I'm using Firefox on a Mac, but it doesn't seem like the browser/computer make much of a difference.
Note: This definition is specific to the OSAP Application for Full-Time Students
Other assets include the total gross value of:
all account balances at financial institutions,
bonds, term deposits, GICs,
all other investments, and
any other assets (e.g., any real estate other than your principal residence, boats, aircraft, motors, etc.) not already indicated on your application in the items dealing with vehicles and/or RRSPs.
Do NOT include:
the value of your principal residence,
clothing, furniture, personal belongings,
non-economic loss and/or pain and suffering awards of less than $100,000,
RESPs that have not been cashed in,
savings through the Ontario Child Benefit Equivalent program and/or,
OSAP funding (i.e., student loans, Queen Elizabeth II Aiming for the Top Scholarships, Canada Student Grants, Ontario Access Grants, Ontario Access Grant for Crown Wards, Ontario Student Opportunity Grants, Distance Grants, Textbook and Technology Grants, and Transition Grants.)
So you do have to tell them how much money you have in the bank, this includes ALL ACCOUNTS, which also means the Tax Free Savings Account.

So I don't know what the hell an OAN number is and it says I've already registered with my SIN number even though I've never applied for osap...
forgot your oan?
"There is no information in our system that matches the information that you just provided. Please review the information you entered and make any corrections necessary."
And if I type in my name INCORRECTLY, I get this:
We are unable to provide you with your OSAP Access Number (OAN) at this time.
In order to obtain your OAN, please go to the nearest financial aid office at any provincially-funded university or college of applied arts and technology in Ontario.
So much ****ing fail in 10 minutes.

The same thing happened to a friend of mine--she had to call them and they sent her a very long form to fill out, and she has to mail it back to them. It's kind of sketchy though, because it seems like someone else has registered under your SIN...which hopefully didn't happen!
I would check with SFAS in the mean time, they might be able to do something.

What if all the money inside your account is from OSAP/Scholarships?
I think they would be assets, if you haven't used them for school then you are likely to use them the following year.

You see but that's confusing it says do not include OSAP funding etc. and if they are only talking about the OSAP that you have already spent then why would you put that in your assets in the first place?
