This is probably a dumb question but I honestly forget the whole OSAP pick up procedure every year lol but is it possible to get the OSAP money as a cheque instead of forwarded to McMaster or into my bank account?

I'm not sure if this is possible (couldn't find anything about it). You can contact SFAS and ask them though.

I don't know of any other ones. If you don't have your SIN card or the government documentation then you should contact SFAS. Although you could contact Service Canada for confirmation of your SIN (http://www.servicecanada.gc. ca/eng...uestinfo.shtml).

Just wondering - do these OSAP people work for the government or the school?

Definitely. You can choose not to give them your direct deposit info with the void cheque and tell them thatyou do not want the money to go straight to mac. In that case, you will receive a cheque at your mailing address.

If you have your SIN card then you don't need Gov't Documentation.

I have a question, maybe someone can help me out?
When I went to pick up my OSAP, they told me I was getting about $6000 for September (and the rest in January). The lady asked me "How much of this is going to the school?" and I answered "All of it?"

(I had no idea that I was supposed to know this before coming in..?)

Anyway, about $6000 went to Mac. But I checked my student account and it says I only owe about $4000 right now for tuition (I assume the rest will have to be paid in January). What will happen to the extra $2000 that I gave to the school, but isn't yet required for my tuition?

It'll most likely be deducted from what you owe in January.

Or your student account will have a negative balance aka they owe you money and as soon as your account is updated in January and says you owe them more then the numbers will get deducted from each other, no worries.
