You mean the parking signs? If that is what you mean
a) they are useful, you have no idea how many calls I get (not to mention switchboard too) on "how do I get to this building? And once I'm there how do I get to a parking lot?" blah blah blah. Signs that say "PARKING---->" make me want to kill myself less
b) they are not paid for by "the university" they are paid for by Parking who budgets them into their annual amount.

I remember in first year, we filled out forms about each of the MDCL lecture halls, saying how they could improve it. We all wrote "more outlets in each room for laptops!"
So they go and redo ONE room worth $1 million and put an outlet for EVERY seat .... then leave all the other rooms the same.
I don't get it.

The lecture halls in TSH and CNH only have outlets around the walls, one every few rows if I remember properly. I've had some days when I've prayed that my battery doesn't die before class ends. :S

I can usually get about 4-5 hours out of it if I dim the screen, etc. to make the battery last longer.

My old laptop (got it in 2006), had about 2 hours at best.
I got a new one summer 2008 and I can squeeze about 3.5. When I bought it, the Future Shop flyer said it had 5 hours, but it doesn't.

A Macbook I got over the summer. It has amazing battery life Also, I usually turn the screen down to the dimmest it can go, set it to turn the screen off after only a couple minutes, that kind of thing to stretch it as far as I can.

You could always try taking notes old school, you know with a pen and a paper.
You don't need electricity and there's no temptation to check e-mails/facebook/chat online etc.

A lot of my classes have the lecture slides online, and I like to expand on them. There is no way I'm printing out all that crap. Even with four slides per page, it's raping my printer.

And I can never write fast enough to keep up with most of my profs, and when I can keep up, I can't read it later.

I think it's funny when profs say you should print off the online lecture slides and bring them to class so it's easier to follow along. Good idea? Yes. Ridiculous expensive? Yes!!!!!!!!!!!
Some classes I have 3 times a week, and each lecture is like 35 slides. With 4 slides a page, that's a lot of paper and ink.
