I have profs that don't use slides and/or don't use webct (or it hasn't been set up for that class yet), and so I need to use a computer cause my handwriting's terrible when I'm not trying to keep up with someone talking

Even with classes that use slides I usually just write hand written notes to compliment the slides. I don't print the slides out b/c that's a waste of paper.

That said I understand that not everyone can write fast and some people don't have legible writing if they are writing fast. I guess I'm lucky that I can write fast and take notes while the prof is taking and I can read what I wrote later.
