Where to park, do I pay everytime?
I don't live on campus and I was wondering if I have to pay for parking every day or get some kind of pass?

I went to check something today and had to pay $3 for half an hour. I noticed there were lots a,b,c ,etc but I wasn't sure if they were for employees or something.

Will I have to pay each day, get a parking pass, or is parking free for McMaster students?

There are yearly parking passes for some lots I believe. No free parking anywhere on campus.

If you park in Lot M, it will be $6 for the day. There is a shuttle bus that will take you up to the main campus.

If you are going to be less than an hour (just popping in to pick something up quickly), there are a few places around for street parking.

Long term, get a pass for Lot M. And get a locker for your stuff to park in on campus.

The shuttle buses down to Lot M can get pretty packed during peak times but even then it's only a ten minute walk to the middle of campus.

If parking was free, everyone would drive all the time - there simply isn't room to park the vehicles of tens of thousands of students and employees. So, parking is pretty expensive to try to deter people from driving. If you don't mind a walk or bus ride, you can park 10-15 minutes away from campus for free.

if you turn on the street right before Mr.sub and then make a right, you get a street with 3 hour parking. its about a 10 minute walk from there to Gilmour Hall, i've been using it just for welcome week but it won't be useful once school starts unless your classes are spaced out.

Also, we have bus passes as part of our tuition so you can find parking on a bus route that perhaps has longer times for parking and then bus in from there.
