Aww, I hang out in the east end all the time!!
Seriously, you can get a great apartment for $400 a month and there's places where pitchers of beer are something like $12. It's not as sketchy down there as people assume...Some of the townhouse complexes are really nice.
I don't hang out with too many other Mac students on a regular basis (a lifestyle thing I guess) but I very rarely, if ever, see any around there (with the notable exception of Hamilton Strip... Put your student grant money to good use guise!

Also, just for future reference: The students that prowl around Mac/Hess village consistently dress/act MUCH sluttier than any hooker I have EVER seen downtown or on Barton St East.
