Therefore, I don't see it being a problem that you say "no" to having a pet.

Furthermore, if a third party wanted to get a pet, and for some reason insisted that they get a pet and not move out, then I'm not sure they would have a legal case, since yours/your boyfriend's right to not have a pet isn't something that can be ignored.

It's a simple freedom to/freedom from case.
If you own the house, and you live in it, and you or your kids, spouse, spouse's kids or spouse's parent(s) share a bathroom or kitchen with the tenants, then the Residential Tenancies Act does not apply and you're free to make the rules you want.

Your dog is so cute. He looks like he is at least part maltese, although I could be wrong!

I on the other hand have a cute kitty that I'll post a picture of later on.

He's a purebread maltese

His mom & dad are show dogs who won a bunch of awards. He cost me an arm & a leg, but the companionship is well worth it

IT'S NOT FUNNY GUYS!!!... lol, okay, maybe a little.

Anyway, the way I ended up with a turtle is some random Chinese lady gave me a free one when I was like 10, and my parents freaked out when I brought it home.

They let me keep the turtle (still amazed they let me do that), and being ten, I decided it needed a friend. So I went to the pet store and bought another baby one for $10. My parents tried to take it back, but the guy at the store refused to take it back. I had a fish tank that I kept them in, and they hated each other (weren't even remotely the same species of turtle... apparently).

I used to have to give them walks because they liked to run around a lot (turtles are a lot more active than you think). Anyway, one day I decided to give them a walk in my backyard. I was watching the smaller one, and the big one just disappeared. I have no idea where it went. I live by the bluffs, so I'm guessing it went down the bluffs to the water. I didn't care that much because he was a douchebag and always tried to bite the smaller one. Apparently it was illegal to own that type of Turtle too (Ontario painted turtle).

Eventually I took the smaller one back to the pet store (since turtles are hard to take care of and crap like there's no tomorrow), and my dad forced them to take it back saying he would kill it otherwise.

Moral of the story: Don't get a pet turtle. Worst. Pet. Ever.

LOL interesting story. I don't know much about turtles, but I do know that I had pet turtles (or I should say, my family had pet turtles) when I was very little (like 3 - 5 years old). I named them after the Ninja Turtles!

Eventually they got too big and my parents released them into a river. Now I know that wasn't a good idea and they probably died, but at the time I was like 5 so I really only cared that I wouldn't have turtles anymore.

lol, they probably did fine. Reptiles I think are one of those animals that just know how to survive by instinct (hence why their parents aren't around when they hatch).

You're not supposed to release domestic animals into a wild population because it screws up the ecosystem. That is if they're able to adapt...which many can.

Case in point the domestic feral rabbit population at the University of Victoria:

Whatever. That turtle I had was native to Ontario, and I've seen many like it down the bluffs near my house. I'm assuming it went and joined them :/.
