Physics 1B03 Problem
Hi,
I want to take Physics 1B03 as an elective, but it says that I don't have the academic requisites.

Currently my courses are:
Chem 1A03
Chem 1AA3
Econ 1B03
HTH SCI 1E06
HTH SCI 1G03
HTH SCI 1I06
Math 1LS3 ( 1A03 was full :( )
Science 1A00

I have taken Grade 12 Physics and Calculus and Vectors - and got over 80% in each of them so I doubt that would be the issue. Isn't the only prereq for this course Gr 12 Phy/Calc and the Science 1A00?

What seems to be the problem?
Thanks.

It looks like you have all the prerequisites. I would call the department of physics and astronomy. Tell them you have all the prerequisites but are still failing them. Ask for a prerequisite waiver. (Ext. 23632)

while you're at it, give the math&stats department a call and see if they can open up a seat for you in math 1A03

I was on SOLAR yesterday and was able to get into math 1A03 so I'd go on and give it a try.

I just got an email regarding physics 1B03 and make sure that math 1LS3 if in the first term. The email said that you must have math 1A03 or math 1LS3 to take the physics. Hope that helps

Yeah me too.. Not sure why some people see it as full while others have it as available on SOLAR.. Really weird.

It's probably because it's before sectioning, so they are still reserving seats for programs that require the course. They want to make sure everyone required to take the course gets a chance to take it.

I think on August 13th, all the seats should be open though.

That would make sense.. especially since a lot of people e-mailed the department to ask for seats in Math 1A03.. so maybe they even added more seats for those people and their programs.

Inside Scoop: It's because you're in Life Sci.

Only a limited number of Life Science students are supposed to take 1A03...since 1LS3 is designed for such students...so life sci students see the course as full, while people in science I would see it as available (I think). Of course if you contact the department, they can open seats for you.

(Don't shoot the messenger!)

When I took 1A, there were something like 3000 students taking it...so I don't imagine they'd be hard on space.

Yeah, it was like 4 or 5 sections of at least 500. They were in the big lecture halls, back in the day.

Maybe someone dropped it, or maybe they smartened up and realized that it's hard enough to get people to take math...they don't need capped courses. xD
