Physics 1B03 Summer School
I just signed up for this today so inevitably missed the first class. If anyone went to this today I would be so thankful if you could tell me what was covered and when labs start.

As for the material, there's no need to fret. Physics 1B03 was pretty much a review of gr. 12 physics.

Haha, didn't take it! I had to take 1L03 to get in, and I have a bad feeling it wasn't very good preparation..

Hi there, I went to the class yesterday. The prof is an interesting man...he makes us think, goes around the room and asks questions to random people if nobody volunteers to give an answer. He gave us a few worksheets on kinematics. We didn't really do much yesterday. For an hour, we talked about course outline + academic integrity + stuff you hear in other classes on first day. The best thing to get from that is: DON'T CHEAT. He WANTS you to work in groups and learn from each other, but not one person teaching everything. And of course, on tests too, don't cheat. He HATES cheaters.

We covered a few basic concepts related to kinematics (position, velocity, acceleration, vector addition, tangent slope, etc.) but that's pretty much it. You didn't miss much in this class, but I highly recommend you go to the next class because it seems like Physics is going to be exciting with this prof.

hope that helps

arathbon, Little all say thanks to Qadd for this post.

Okay just panicked and switched my lab to a tuesday. Thanks so much! I would have been screwed if you didn't tell me that.

If it's anything like the course during Fall/Winter, it's probably the Uncertainties lab, which can be found in the manual and in here:

http://www.physics.mcmaster. ca/~voroby/1B03Labs/

It's really simple, and completely explained on the manual. Don't forget the pre-lab. Read the appendix, and good luck.

Thanks, I assume we don't need some special notebook like bio and chem?

^That's still available on the site anyways. I guess you skip the prep lab that gets you ready for the motion and dynamics equipment.

You did need a lab notebook during the year. It's a black hardcover notebook. They sell/sold them for a cheaper price than Titles on the day of the labs. I believe it was $12 in Titles, but $5-10 in the lab (BSB 2B-something).
