PHYSICS 1L03 Fall 2012
Hi,

Can anyone who took this course this semester comment on its difficulty. I have read all the course reviews, and it seems to be manageable but I heard from friends who took the course that it was harder than usual this semester. Is there any truth to this? Will I be fine if I took Grade 12 Physics?

Thanks so much in advance

First, the only way anyone can properly judge if it's "harder than usual" is if they've taken the course enough times to establish what "usual" is and then taken it again this year...which I highly doubt is the case. More often than not, when people say that, it's simply because they're having trouble with what they heard was an easy course, not because anything about the course itself changed substantially.

The course is meant as a grade 12 physics replacement, so people who never took grade 12 physics are supposed to be able to do well in it. If you have taken grade 12 physics and did decently well, then there's no reason why you shouldn't also do well in 1L03.

^you can take 1l03 no matter what, even if you've taken 1b03 already.

It's not an antirequisite. Half the people who take 1L03 each year have already taken grade 12 physics, because that's what the science academic advisors tell everyone to do. I had several advisors sit me down and try to convince me to take 1L03 instead of 1B03 even though every single second-year program I was considering required 1B03 by the end of second year, and I did really really well in grade 12 physics. I was so annoyed.
