Please Help: Health Studies 1a03
Dear MacInsiders,

I'm a first year student and I am currently looking for a substitue course due to a conflict. I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything at all about Health Studies 1A03? I am unsure of the difficulty of the material, as well as the temperments of the professor. Some have told me that this is a rather easy elective, but others disagree, saying that it's too time consuming.

Regards,

Mephisto.

A good number of people have posted reviews of this class here, but if you don't find that sufficient enough, I can answer any questions you have on the class.

I took this class first semester. In all honesty, I found it pretty simple and straightforward. You need to go to lecture and do the reading, but it's nothing too dense and can actually be pretty interesting. There are two profs, Dr. Gildiner and Dr. Rothenberg. Gildiner teaches about the evolution of health systems in Canada - it starts off as kind of boring, but it is important. Rothenberg continues the course and brings it to a more social science level. She talks about more supernatural things, such as cultural healing systems.

The course material is not cumulative. You have four tests during the year (30 m.c. for the first three and 20 on the fourth) and two essays which are also very straightforward.

It's a great course, I would reccomend you take it for sure!

Also, this is the course outline for the second term Health Studies 1A03, assuming it's not the night class. It seems to be Gildiner and Rothenberg again.
