So I'm going to bates residence and I was wondering if there were any rules about bringing portable washing machines? The ones I see at Home depot are like 1 cubic feet in load and are like the size of a small bedside table.

Are you referring to a dish washing machine? I'd suggest to just not be lazy and wash dishes with your hands. There is not exactly a lot of room in Bates kitchens for additional appliances.

You did not hear me wrong, I meant a clothes washing machine. Like this one :/
Each residence already have laundry facilities to serve your needs. There is information on the housing and conference services website that will tell you on how that whole system words (prepaid cards I believe).
I know that, but just a thought of being shackled into relying completely on the residence is a bit meh for me. And if like my 4 roomates all get one portable washing machine we can save cuz i bet you will do more than 40 dollars worth of laundry :/

They don't want you to save. They want your money.

Just play ignorance and bring it. Worst that can happen is you put a drape over it and make it look like a shelf when they do inspection.

Hell yea! Full service laundry would be great. They drop off their basket, and you give them fully folded stuff at the end of the day.
just so you are aware they move you into your room so they will be carrying the washing machine to your room...and if it isnt allowed they wont move it in and you'll have to leave it. thats the only thing that would really stand in your way lol

They're not allowed to carry anything potentially "valuable" anyway, supposedly. They wouldn't carry my printer for me because it looked too expensive. But yeah, you'll just have to carry it yourself most likely.

Wow this is cool, I've never seen a small laundry machine like this to fit in a dorm room. Nice find!
They wouldn't move this up for you since it's large and 'valuable'. I'd bring it up yourself. I haven't heard any rules against having this. I'm sure over the timespan of a year of laundry, this would save you a lot of money as well as hassle of carrying clothes to the laundry.
What about drying clothes though? How do you dry them once they are washed, without hanging them up all over your room lol
