is it possible to get a 11 or 12 in math 1ls3
hey guys i did poorly on the tests ... due to many reasons ... however there is an option of making my final exam 90% and tests 10%. Do you think its possible for me to get an 11 or 12 given tht i did poorly on the tests? I would need to get near to perfect on the final exam in order for tht to happen! im freaking out ! someone please help :( and what would you recommend focusing on for the finals so that i can achieve this grade hands-down? !
thanks a lot every bit of advice helps !

I don't know your work ethics and such, but I think it'd still be possible. I found the 1LS3 exam to be extremely fair and actually erred on the easier side. If you have Lovric, most likely he'll have told you what you need to know for the exam, study that. Also, do the practice tests, practice exams and assignments. I cannot stress this enough. The exam will most likely have questions very similar to your assignments and past tests so make sure you understand the questions there. I don't know if you use the new textbook, but I never found it very helpful; I only used the assignments/past tests to study for 1LT3 and I did well. But that's your own call.

Exams are usually harder than tests.

It sort of depends on your "many reasons" for doing poorly on the tests, and whether or not they will affect your performance on the exam
The exam was pretty easy when I took the course, and the majority of the material (about 90%) is review from high school, so it shouldn't be difficult to catch up in time for the exam, which is still a few weeks away.

easy 12, just make sure you look at the practise questions in the work booklet or w.e they have. I'm sure i used the 90/10 option and got a 12, but my test avgs were 87s so that made it easier

The exam is not tricky at all. I wrote the damn thing with minimal effort and aced it with an easy 90. For those struggling a little bit, its technique and lots of practice. It is VERY possible to do very well on the exam. There are many styles of questions to expect so and all available for review, your sources are endless sooo..

If you choose to PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, it should be a walk in the park.

Just curious......for those who said the exam was easy, who was your prof? I'm planning on taking this course in the fall

Lovric is a boss! He is definately the go to prof for this course.

Personally, I found LS3 a joke and an easy 12 but obviously not everyone feels the same way. Practise makes perfect in this course! Tests are equivalent to the course ware in terms of difficulty. Exam is the same level of difficulty as the tests. Chances are if you get 70% on every test, then you will get a 70% on the final.

With the 90/10 format, it's very possible to compensate for a bad test. Given that, I still studied and tried to do well on each of the tests so I didn't feel like it was an all-or-nothing sort of deal at the end of the term .

Oh wow, Noor I wish I could like your post. I don't feel like what you said was out of line, though.
