There are some wonderful blogs with ideas for making inexpensive wall art. Try googling "crafting or decorating blogs" or something like that.

You can buy frames from the dollar store and stick craft paper/wrapping paper/fabric etc in them and group them together in a large group and they look great (only in a group, generally). You can even use the same large sheet in all of the frames in the group, and that looks good. Make sure your frames are all the same for this idea. Or use an old window or frame.

Scan a bunch of your favourite photos and print them out in B&W or sepia and put them in cheapie frames and group together -- make sure the frames have something similar about them if they're not all the same, ie, colour, shape.

Go to an art store and buy a canvas stretcher for fabric, or even the dollar store has cheapo canvases.
These are some greeeat ideas. (And don't worry, I'm a closet IKEA-lover too, actually, no closets about it. IKEA has some really nice stuff!) I'm so heading to Dollarama in University Plaza for some frames... they sell those right? :0

Yeah, so does Shoppers. There's also a framing store in University Plaza that carries some cool stuff.

Dollarama has great frames, especially for "grouping purposes"!

University Plaza.

The Beeline Express (10 bus) goes there, as does the 5 Delaware.

Here's an example of what you can do with an old window and some nice paper: http://www.craftynest.com/2009/06/sa...lpaper-frames/ You can also do something similar with cheapie frames from the dollar store, and just arrange them in a similar layout/pattern on the wall! It's a lot easier and less time consuming.

The blog "Ikea Hacker" is full of great ideas

Wow, that's really nice... Although, I would probably choose different types of wallpaper XD
