Always remember to look at distance objects every 15-30 minutes or so (Just for like around 15 seconds) to prevent eye strain. This is true for both reading/browsing at screen as well as reading books. I highly doubt it's actually eye strain though (Through all my heavy computer usage, I've only gotten eye strain once). Discomfort is probably due to dry eyes in which case you should try to consciously blink more, use artificial tears, or takes breaks from the computer/book.

Not an eye doctor yet... but I've had eye strain before so I've done some light research on it before and what I've said is what I remember reading. I haven't had an eye strain ever since.
