Programming Languages used in first year Comp Sci
Hi there, I'm a highschool student in Toronto and as part of the Ontario curriculum's requirements, I have this stupid careers project to do.

What I need is to find out what programming languages are used in first year comp sci @ McMaster.

Also, whats first year tuition cost like? (not including residence and food)

Many thanks!

I'm in software engineering, but I'm pretty sure you'll be doing Java (and maybe C). In upper years, you may also start learn Haskell or OCaml (like I did).

I hope some Comp. Sci. student will be able to answer this better than I can.

More Info here: http://www.cas.mcmaster.ca/cas/0template1.php?907
Course info here: http://registrar.mcmaster.ca /CALEN...nt/pg1857.html

Not sure on tuition.

I did computer science for three years in high school. My suggestion: learn Java. I am in first year engineering right now, and we are learning C#. About 95% of the code in C# is the same as Java. I have yet to open my text book, and the only times I have had to look at lecture notes or tutorial slides was before the midterm.

Flash is a web developers worst nightmare.

Django is really nice. Same with Pylons.

hey flash is pretty decent...easy to learn, quick, and you can do
some solid graphics work with it for websites, but ya it is a pain to program with if
ur not used to it

never heard of django
