For comp eng, if they don't change anything, you'll use:
C#, C, C++, Java, Microcontroller specific assembly, VHDL, Verilog, Matlab, R, PLC programming (depending on your electives)

kanishka says thanks to DannyV for this post.

In the first year course it is just the C# language that is taught.

I believe it's pretty much the same (C based languages). I'm not sure, but you might also use a language called OCaml, or something like that. I know I have to use it in software engineering this year.

Well, I haven't taken it yet, since I'm going into second year this year, but I have done a lot of research. Basically, second years is pretty general among all the streams of software engineering. I think I have two different classes about media from everyone else, and that's it.

In third year, the streams start to differentiate a lot more (well, embedded systems becomes a lot different than game design, and general lies somewhere in the middle). I think this is where one in game design would start to really learn how to make games :p

In fourth year, I think one of the final project things is to make a game in a group. I'm not so sure though. I talked to Dr. Khedri about this before, and he said that no matter which stream of software engineering you go into, you still come out as a software engineer.

So to answer your question more simply, yes, but not till later on :p

Just as true as expecting to build bridges for life once you've gone into civil.

Yes, C# is what's used in 1st year engineering. I would know, since I was there. :p
