Psych 1xx3 1x03
Hey there, i have a few questions for the two courses.
1 For PSYCH 1X03,in the course listings, it has one tutorial, but there's no tutorial in the timetable.
2 For both of the courses, there are 3 hours in every week, so do i need to choose 3 different lectures in the timetable since one lecture only lastes for one hour? For example, i can choose C01 C02 C03.

thank you!!

You only pick one of the cores, so C01 or C02 etc.

The way that psych 1x03 and 1xx3 works is u watch typically 2-3 hours of lectures online and the core that you pick is your tutorial time.

So for example if you pick C01 for Psych 1x03, your tutorial is Monday 9:30-10:30 in PC 237.

you mean C01 C02 etc are tutorial time? But the thing is for PSYCHO 1XX3(term2), it also has tutorial time. what does the T mean here?
C01 We 13:3014:202 BSB/147C02 Th 16:3017:202 BSB/147C03 Mo 16:3017:202 BSB/147C04 Mo 14:3015:202 BSB/147

T01 Mo 10:3011:202 PC/237 T02 Mo 10:3011:202 BSB/B205 T03 Mo 10:3011:202 BSB/B206 T04 Mo 11:3012:202 PC/237

plus, if we just watch lecture online, why do we need to go to BSB?

hmm good question,

it looks like for psych 1xx3 you'll have 1 hour of scheduled lecture time and then an hour tutorial every week.

So for psych 1x03 you'll just be picking a core which is really your tutorial and for 1xx3 you'll be picking a core and a tutorial.

The online lectures are there as a guideline. You need to have tutorial time to go over the information and for things like assignments and participation marks (if they still do that).

Edit:

This is the course outline for 1xx3 last year http://www.science.mcmaster. ca/psy... e_outline.pdf
It says that there is both a class and a tutorial time. You go over different material in each.

For psych 1xx3, in the timetable, there's only one hour in each lecture.Since the lecture lasts for 2-3 hours actually, do i need to regard one hour as 2 or 3 hours in order to not interfere with my other courses?

No, the class itself will only be an hour long. Online lectures will most likely take longer (you'll probably want to write down notes, so you'll be pausing a lot)

for 1x03, what the difference between the two different locations--pc(dorm?) and bsb? Do we use our own computers in BSB?

You don't go to class to watch the online lectures, you have to do that on your own. You go to class for discussions and assignments.

PC is the psychology building
BSB is the Burke Science Building

1XX3 is the one that has a lot of science (i.e. bio)

1X03 you'd go through the scientific method again. But it's mostly stuff like conditioning, mental processes and (later) mental disorders. It was pretty interesting.

Last year we had both a core and tutorial. I don't know how it's going to work this year with just the core =/

So does Grade 12 Bio/Bio 1P03 prepare you sufficiently for Psych 1XX3?

I would think so.

It's mostly the neuron/AP part that can be tricky. If you're in Bio or neuro you cover it at least 5 times by the end of the year in different courses =p

Could you maybe... write a review for 1P03? I've seen a few people ask about it over the past several months. :]
