Thanks to the wonderful ikantspell I managed to catch up on the enviro sci 1b03 I missed from my cancer operation (I'm fine now, don't worry).
Now I'm catching up on psych 1xx3. I finished the web lectures, but I still need notes from the live lectures, as the slides for those really really suck.
If anyone could send me:
Notes for Live lecture 3, Evolution, Week of Jan 17th
Notes for Live lecture 4, Neuroscience I, Week of Jan 24th
Notes for Live lecture 5, Neuroscience II, Week of Jan 31st
I am a second year but i will ask my friends who are taking psych 1xx3 to help you GET WELL SOON <3

Don't you record your lectures if they're online, or whatever? I usually grab videos with realplayer downloader..

Oh no, those are the regular lectures. but the live lectures are another lecture once a week where Dr. Kim or whoever it is this year, gives an actual lecture. So, sadly it's not recorded like the online ones :(

Yep
In person. No repeat.
25% of the questions will be from Live Lecture.

Neuroscience II was posted online by Dr. Kim due to the snow day class cancellation. I have Neuroscience I, although I won't say these are the best notes. I however don't have the lecture on evolution.
Edit: I have attached typed version of Neuroscience I.
She said most of it isn't her and the original author did not want them posted.
But I still have hope.

Evolution - Copied from my OneNote file
Oh, and I totally creeped you in Chem, Dave. In my head, I was, like, "Hey, it's Rep!" (proper pronounciation, and all)
Last Week: Development Across a Lifespan
First 3 Years of Life Educational Movement - Gene Environment Interactions
Evolution and Natural Selection:
Feeding - natural preferences for specific flavour
Evolution and Human Behaviour:
If you consider genetics and evolutionary - altruism - passing on genes can be passed by you or relatives sharing the gene pool
Outline:
Human Aggression - why my aggressive types of behaviour have been adaptive - homicide - biological and social perspective
Understanding why one would be attractive to another
Agression and Attraction:
----------------------------------------------- Natural Selection and Homicide: Homicide Rates as an index of Agression:
Data shows people who killed people who are not related to them
Most homicides are committed by men in their 20s in particular, 20-24
The scale shows two countries but the most in a city
Risky Behaviour and Outcome Variance
Imagine being in a place where murder is a norm
Outcome Variance:
One stock is very low variance with a reliable rate of return
High variance is high rate of return and risk in losing all of the money
In terms of evolution, variance currency is sex/reproduction
Mini-Game: Gambling Reproductive Fitness:
The return: expected probability * return
Men are more likely to take a more risky option
Variance in Human Fitness
Taken from Havsa
For women, it follows an even distribution: there is less competition for them
For men, it is more of a flat curve with varying success
Risky Competition:
Outcome variance
Women on average have the same number of children
Women invest more in reproduction
Nothing to Lose:
Social: environmental conditions?
Homicide is more likely when they are unemployed because they have...nothing to lose
Risky behaviour is more likely to help you move up
Marriage and Divorce:
Maybe in a relationship, they are more stable, more invested, and less likely to invest in risky behaviour
Single men commit most murders
Young divorced and widowed men commit the most homicides
Being married THEN being single makes it more likely
Income Inequality:
It shows Gini index (income disparity by neighbourhood)
As number on x-index increases, there is more difference between rich and poor people
Perfect positive correlation
The greater the difference in income inequality, the greater the number of homcides
Life Expectancy:
In Chicago
They vary depending on which part of Chicago you are in
The lower the life expectancy, the higher the homicide rate
Perfect negative correlation
Risk-Taking, Inequality, and Homicide
The higher the variance in sexual reproduction, the more likely the risk is taken
----------------------------------------------- Voice Attractiveness Sexual Selection
Preference in traits that may have a negative effect in survival
The Human Peacock Tail
Female peacock find this picture very very very very sexy
However, it is biologically expensive to have this tail. It's hard to maintain and may slow them down
"There must be something fit about him"
Manipulating Voice Pitch:
Deep voice pitch must be heritable
Women prefer low pitch voice
Voice pitch gives information
The higher the testosterone, the lower the pitch
High levels of testosterone can supress the immune system
Pedagogy Research Lab:
Memory Attention Cognitive Load
Take a lecture and change the pitch
Rate the instructor
Lower voice pitch sounds more assertive, reliable, convincing, "attractive", confident
Deep, Sexy Voices
Faces and Smells Different Preferences at Different Times:
During the ovulatory phase = 'manly man'
During pregnancy = sensitive
Pregnancy and Support
Media Association? The Hadza
Men who have the lowest voice pitch tend to leave behind the most children and otherwise
Direct Correlations:
Is what it shows
Evolutionary Psych:
Don't justify behaviour with evolutionary psych
Conclusions:
How can we explain interpecies altruistic behaviours?
Dog fought the mountain lion, died, and saved the boy
What's in it for the dog?

Sorry, but I only posted it for Dave, because he had a very legitimate reason to miss class. If you give me one, then I'll post it.

I can send you my notes, but it's too large for MI to allow me to add it as an attachment. PM me your email and I'll send it to you sometime today/tomorrow.

I was sick. Had fever over night and couldn't sleep properly.
