Can three courses increase my gpa

It deeply wound me that a 3rd year student does not know how GPAs are calculated.

Do you know how averages are calculated? Here is a site that will go over the basic for you.

Then what you need to do is apply that to McMaster's grades. Here is a link to our Calendar that shows you how.

Put it all together, you can then see how that 3 units course will affect your overall GPAs. Try to gauge your final mark for that course as best as you can.

Three courses can also lower your GPA.

Best course of action is to take none.

Yes, it can, depending on the course work percentage (midterms? labs? quizzes? essays?) and the effort you put into it.

How many courses have you taken in the past? The more courses you've already taken the less impact three courses will have. It also depend where your average is. If your average is really low and you get really good marks in the three courses it will make more of a difference than if you already have a higher average.
