Question about rooms
For preferences, what rooms do I select if I wish for my own bedroom. Obviously single with washroom, single, but what else? I'd prefer my own bedroom if possible.

The suite and apartment styles will get you your own room with a shared common area with your suitemates.

All the options they give you are treated as different options, so yeah, you can put all of them I'm pretty sure.

I can't remember, but I think you can get something that isn't your choice, its really low chance probably though. Considering you have 4 or 5? options you're likely to get what one of them, even if its the last of the list. The system is lottery.

What year are you in?
Besides Bates/Keyes, I've rarely heard of first years who got single rooms. Usually it's just CAs or upper-years-with-95%-averages.
I mean, it probably still happens, but I wouldn't get my hopes up.

my friend did that, somehow come up with all the single options, she got rejected from all of them and ended up in a triple, which she hated. I think if they are out of the basic single room, that description includes all the lifestyle themes too, so picking say "halycon house" may be a waste of choice. I'm not 100% on this, but pretty sure. It may serve you better to pick apartments or suites, or have more double room options, just so you don't get a living condition you're entirely uncomfortable with, like a triple or a quad.

In the end, its down to luck of the lottery. I ended up getting my first choice off the lottery.

You might want to pick a double room option somewhere in there, since single rooms seem rare for first years. A double room is really nice too, just one roommate and hopefully you'll get along and respect each other's lifestyles.

I personally recommend suite/apt style if you're going to have any other room options. Doubles can be fun, but you don't have any privacy when you want it. Plus having just one roommate might lead to some awkward moments at times.
