For someone that has already taken the course, how was the final exam? Was it similar to the material on the midterms? Was it harder? Easier?

a little bit harder but still not hard...he comes up with new questions that were not examples...and there are many (3 or 4 long answer) questions on those few random chapters than weren't on either the midterms but i forget what it was about.

I took it in summer 2012 with Cyrus Feyz teaching it the whole way through. A few things I noticed... the midterms were easy to get a high mark in with minimal studying. I expected the exam to be the same way, I mean it wasn't difficult or anything, but he was very stingy with marks... I lost about a mark on each question due to not writing EXACTLY what he wanted... and it added up. He did not post a practice exam, sadly. Just know how to use those binary integers.

My exam (from what I remember) had the EMV tables, the product mix things with oil/gas, binary integer values, those shadow values and stuff with those short questions that give you like 2 marks each. Oh, and a question regarding risk dominance and stuff

I took the class with Andrew (sup buddy!) and I wouldn't listen to our advice. Feyz wrote the entire exam since it was summer and he made it way harder for us because everyone got 95 on the linear programming midterm. Most likely yours will be easier and written by the other guy.

Shit is going to show up from the later chapters that weren't on midterms. Make sure you have probability down because they will ask anything. Know your decision trees perfectly. Excel is going to show up as well. Know the textbook examples. A bunch of our questions that showed up weren't really from problems they were obscure knowledge from the textbook examples and really caught me off guard. But again, I'm certain Feyz just made it difficult on purpose.

I can't speak for Feyz, but I find Steiner's suggested assignment problems alot more relevant to the (midterm) and presumably the final. There are two questions for chapter 7 that he had assigned, one regarding risk dominance which I'm pretty sure will be on the exam.

Yeah, not only that, but he was really **** about the marks. I lost tons of half marks on questions and it added up -- he wasn't lenient at all when I went in to check my exam either sadly. Needless to say, I don't feel he prepared us for Ch 7 stuff very well, and playing LoL instead of studying was just stupid. The good thing is there isn't much material to learn
