Record/music stores in Hamilton?
Hey guys! I'm in first year but I commute from Burlington so I don't know the Hamilton area too well; are there any good music stores/record stores near the school? I figure Hamilton should probably have some good ones (I don't care if they're grubby, unsorted, whatever) and I want the inside info on where I can buy some vinyl (old and new). Cheap places are even better! Any ideas?

If you take one of the many buses that go down to Gore Park, there is a store near the center that is called Cheapies. There, you can buy a lot of records (vinyls is what you meant right?) as well as a bunch of cds and whatnot. I can't recall the prices, but I think you could find some good deals. However, it's not exactly cheap for something despite what the name might make you think... well I can't remember the prices entirely but it's definitely worth checking out at the least. If you're just interested in finding cds and whatnot as well, you could always check out limeridge mall. It's up the mountain (so'd you have to take one of the buses down to gore, and transfer onto the wentworth. It'll take you right infront of the mall).
But ya, if you wanna check out records, Cheapies is one of the only ones I know of in Hamilton.

No problem; I've got a friend that's really into records and whatnot, So I'll ask her when I get the chance. Though I don't think there will be anything else that's notable. But it's worth a try

Its cheap for anything used, but I'm pretty sure I remember seeing some outrageous prices. If I recall correctly, I think I saw a Justin Timberlake record for over $50. Of course, I don't listen to Timberlake, but it was hard to miss since it was near the front of the store. Since it's a small shop, the general rule of thumb would be that used items would be cheap (hence the name), but for fresh unopened items, you're gonna be paying a bit more than average.
Of course, I haven't been there in over a year and a half, so I don't know how its been lately. I just know its there

Yeah i went there a couple of weeks ago, the new stuff is more expensive at cheapies... anyways it seems that every other store in 'downtown' hamilton is a record shop or a pot shop

Cheapies is great, dr. disc is fine as well.
But lets face it, if you want something specific you have to look online 9 times out of 10.
That being said, cheapies is still the best option if ur looking for rock records, I can tell you that.
Was happy to find a UK pressing of Elephant by the white stripes the other day... it tickled me in good places...
I have found some very nice stuff there.
I wouldn't mind knowing a few shops in Toronto for vinyl if any 1 has info.
